The angle on CES in this article confuses me. We all know he was playing hurt in 2024 before the second and third opinions. I throw that out. He showed enough in 2023 to give him real run. On the other hand, it seems the Reds opinion and your opinion on McLain is he gets unlimited chances. He is LOST. Non-competitive AB’s. All I hear is quotes from him saying to be aggressive and yet he keeps getting down 0-2 after starting at a good pitch down broadway. He needs to go to Louisville and reset.

Reds need to forget McClain’s 2023 season. It was 2 years ago. They need to look at the player he is now. As Marte and CES become available, McClain should be in Louisville, fixing his game.

Thanks, as always, Charlie. Losing 4 of 6 to the Cubs marks a milestone on the season. It showed that the Reds simply aren't competitive in this relatively weak division. They just don't have enough talent offensively, and they seem content to hope guys will get better rather than seeking meaningful upgrades. They give sooooo many PAs to journeymen hitters and it's infuriating.

The Reds are what they are ,;; decent +pitching, not enough big pop hitters to compete .

Until they acquire a couple of Big Sticks who can at least deliver 25 home runs in Great American Small Park, they will not win. Big mistake in not putting Wade Miley on the big league roster , they will regret it in the next 30 days or less as one of the current starters suffer the

obligatory Oblique Strain, or tired arm, etc. Could have used him in the bullpen, in place of a couple of the current so so's, or as a spot starter,. Expect they will bring up another : Chase Petty (to get hammered ), to start on a spot basis , that could be Wade Miley, a true proven major league arm. A decision they will regret sometime within the next couple weeks.
